Set in 30 acres of ancient woodland, overlooking Courtmacsherry Bay with views as far as the Old Head of Kinsale, Woodpoint House sits quietly, whiling away the centuries.

Trish Gannon has created a tranquil haven on the top of the hill. Far more than a bed and breakfast, Woodpoint House is a home away from home, where guests are made to feel truly welcome with quiet comfort and great food.

Woodpoint House stands high up on the south western side of Courtmacsherry Bay, secluded in 30 acres of woodland (carpeted in bluebells in the spring), but only ten minutes easy walk from Courtmacsherry Village below.

The old stone buildings, set around a palm-tree-lined courtyard, were originally built as the farm to the Boyle Estate, the main house of which now constitutes the Courtmacsherry Hotel on the seafront below.

The six bedrooms (various combinations of double, twin and triple available) are quiet and comfortable. Trish believes in old-fashioned hospitality. Rather than sit in your room and make your own tea and coffee, she encourages you to use the communal sitting room (memorabilia from the Lusitania, which sank just off the coast, on the walls) where she will make you proper coffee and real tea, on request. Or bring your own wine, and, settling in one of the old leather armchairs, perhaps play a game of cards in front of the open fire.

Trish is also a Ballymaloe-trained chef, so breakfast is of a high standard; local produce, beautifully cooked. On request, she can also cook up a fine evening meal with fish caught (perhaps by you) locally that day, and accompanied by wild seasonal vegetables foraged in the surrounding woodland.
